Embedded Media Module: Use this module to add embedded flash movies hosted on other servers like YouTube etc.

Settings Overview

Media Content Module Settings: Besides the general settings described in Part 5 of this guide you can also set the following:

  • Display Title: This will be a 50 character title that displays above the movie. If you do not want a title you can disable this using the checkbox to the right.
  • Display Description: You can enter a description of up to 255 characters, like the title there is a checkbox to the right that will disable the description.
  • Description position: This is the dropdown to the right of the description. You can select whether the description displays above or below the movie.
  • Source: This is the source URL of the movie. First click the add button beside the Source field and then a seperate window will pop up. Inside this window you can paste the embed tag that is given to you from the source site.
  • Width: This is the width of the movie. (This will be automatically set after you paste your embed tag)
  • Height: This is the height of the movie. (This will be automatically set after you paste your embed tag)
  • Displays: After you click the update button beside the height and width fields the sizes that the video will be in the different layouts will appear.

Make sure to click the Save Button when you are done or you will lose your changes.

In the module settings you can set the display text of the video and view the sizes the video will appear in different layouts.

What if the movie won't play? This could be for a few reasons but the most common would be:

  • The source wasn't pasted correctly. Check to see that you haven't missed part at the beginning or end. If you typed it in manually there is a good chance that this is the reason.
  • The media type isn't appropriate. Currently the only type of embedded tag that this module supports is Flash media common to YouTube and other major sites. You can tell by looking towards the end of the tag string add you should see type="application/x-shockwave-flash". We may extend this module to support other media providers using Windows Media Player and Apple Quicktime if we get enough feedback.
  • The host is no longer serving the movie. Go to the host website and check from there if the movie is still accessible.

Embedded Media Module Examples

You can add a title and description and position the description above or below the movie.

Notice that you can turn off the title and description, also the movie will resize if it is too big for a module.
