Do you have what it takes to represent Canada in Ireland this fall?

The road to Ireland goes through the Canadian National Karaoke Championships in Vancouver this July. For the first time MeAndMic.com is allowing members to compete online to qualify for the CNKC.

  • Submit an entry any time on or after Sunday, May 15, 2011 from either this page or from the Contest Manager in your User Settings (you must be logged in to enter).
  • All you have to do is:
    • Go to the competition entry page to complete an entry and pay the $29.99 entry fee (Visa or Master Card accepted).
    • Your entry fee also grants you a one month GOLD MeAndMic.com membership allowing you access to the complete MeAndMic.com track library.
    • Select any two of your best recordings. If you do not have enough acceptable recordings, you can start your entry and submit your songs by the entry close date.
  • Entries can be submitted from Sunday, May 15, 2011 to Tuesday, June 28, 2011.
  • Judging will be by a panel of 5 judges with industry backgrounds.
  • The top 3 male and top 3 female contestants will be notified and invited to attend the Canadian National Karaoke Championships in Vancouver this July 21 2011 at the Edgewater Casino.
  • Results will be posted Thursday, June 30, 2011.

Results and Prizes

The top 3 male and top 3 female competitors will qualify to compete at the 2011 Canadian National Karaoke Championships. The top male and female competitors at the nationals will be sent to Ireland to represent Canada this fall.

If that's not enough the following prizes are also avaliable in both the male and female categories:

  • First prize: $300 CDN in prize money as well as 18 months MeAndMic.com Gold membership, worth over $125.00.
  • Second prize: $150 CDN in prize money as well as 12 months MeAndMic.com Gold membership, worth over $80.00.

  • MeAndMic.com will also give random prizes of monthly Gold membership as well as T-Shirts and other prizes.
  • All entrants will be given virtual awards to display on their profile page.

Rules and Regulations

  • This contest is only open to residents of Canada.
  • Entries must be completed before Tuesday, June 28, 2011 by 11:59:59 PM PST.
  • Judges will rate each individual entry based on the following criteria with a final score being the total of the two entries.
    1. Voice And Sound Quality (20 points): the quality and individual characteristics of the voice.
    2. Rhythm and Tempo (10 points): the voice in relation to the music.
    3. Vocal Expression (10 points): how well the performer is able to express the meaning and mood of the song.
  • Recorded entry must be by member using the MeAndMic.com Karaoke Recording Studio with no additional effects applied. Any evidence of entry fraud will result in a disqualified entry.
  • Recording issues related to sound quality, synchronization and general technical problems will (whenever possible) be taken into consideration by the judging panel. Judges will make every effort to judge the contestant not their equipment.

  • This just in!!: We've added new themes including country based themes. Check them out from your Style Manager.
  • Did You Know?: You can change your user icon from either the Image Manager or from the Membership page.
  • Some Music Trivia: The only 20th century tenors recorded to be capable of hitting 'e' over high 'c' were Enrico Caruso and Roy Orbison.

  • Coming Soon: Head to Head competition. Your recordings against other user's.

  • Some Music Trivia: The Rolling Stones' emblem was created by Andy Warhol.
  • Some Music Trivia: The first video played on MTV was 'Video Killed the Radio Star' by The Buggles.
  • Did You Know?: You can set modules and pages to Private while you are setting them up so no one else can see them until you are ready.
  • Did You Know?: Your page theme is just a start, you can pick a theme and then customize it from the style manager.
  • Did You Know?: You can use the Embedded Media module to add video from most of the major video hosting sites.
  • Some Music Trivia: Ironically the only member of ZZ Top that doesn't have a beard is Frank Beard.
  • Did You Know?: If you want feedback from viewers of your page, just add a Comments Module to the page.
  • Did You Know?: Are users telling you that they can't see a module or page on your profile page?  You might have them set to Private and not Public.
  • Did You Know?: You can have multiple Blog modules on your page.  Create one for show reviews and another for your music rants.
  • Did You Know?: Want organize other user's music? The MeAndMic.com playlist manager will allow you to collect songs into separate playlists.
